Three-Panel Original Encaustic Artwork

About This Artwork
In The Gentle Landing, a tiny finch descends into wild dune grasses at Australia’s most easterly point, a moment poised between safety and exposure. The scene at first seems peaceful and quiet, but as the viewer’s gaze moves across the panels, uncertainty and tension begin to build. This tension is created by the contrasting light-bearing properties of encaustic and cold wax medium, which, used together across the three panels of the triptych, create a compelling narrative force.
At the far edge of this scene, the solitary finch is landing, fragile and tentative, its wings outstretched. It is seeking shelter among the tangled grasses, hoping to find safety there. This tiny bird’s presence at this exposed beach, where the rising sun first touches Australia’s vast continental mass, represents the vulnerability and resilience of life: a quiet insistence on presence amid climatic extremes, and a story of survival amid uncertainty.
