About This Artwork
The sky is a constant source of creative inspiration. Its ever-changing light, cloudscapes, colours and silhouettes have captured the imaginations of artists through the ages.
In this triptych, 'The Magic in the Sky', an old growth gum tree and a bird-in-flight are silhouetted against the sky at twilight. It has a dreamy, magical quality, created by burning beeswax, resin and archival inks into wooden panels using an ancient process that feels like alchemy.
The finished piece is highly tactile, like gemstones, glass and ceramic. Its hardened surface reflects light into interiors and has the effect of 'bringing the outdoors indoors'.
